- make sure you keep on filling in the field-related sections until the application prompts you (turning orange) to submit it
- submit your application
- pay the application fee (you may do so by card and for several applications at a time)
- two weeks later make sure your payment has arrived
- find out your exam date and the result of admission procedures
You need not send us any printed version of the application or any document substantiating you have paid the application fee.
- 4. My application form is different from my friend's.
Applications for places on different fields are different. As a result, your form might not contain some of the text fields the others do (e.g. those to fill in with your secondary school grades, information related to the medical certificate, examination exemption application and/or other items). Please make sure that you fill in all the required fields (marked red). Once you have done so, the form will offer you the option Submit this application.
- 5. When and where am I supposed submit my secondary-school leaving exam certificate?
In most situations, you are required to do so only when enrolling in your studies later on. If this is not the case, the fact is mentioned in the application. The copy of secondary-school leaving exam certificate may be authenticated by the school or a notary.
- 6. I have forgotten my electronic application password. What shall I do now?
Applicants are not provided with their passwords via e-mail or telephone since such channels are considered insecure. If your application is not complete or has not been submitted yet, please create a new one. Provided you have already submitted your application and paid the application fee, you no longer need your password since you will have access to all the information on the entrance exam and result of admission procedures even without it. All you need for this is your application ID and date of your birth.
If you no longer remember your application ID either, we can send it to you provided you request it (giving your full name) from the e-mail address you have entered into your application before. Your application ID can also be found in the letter inviting you to the entrance exam, which every applicant should receive three weeks prior to the exam date at the latest. - 7. I want to change my field of study. What shall I do?
If you want to change your field of study, please create a new application. This is, however, only possible by the end of the application submission period (not later!). Provided you have paid the application fee already, you may want to send an e-mail to the address above requesting its transfer to the new application.
- 8. Do I have to provide my e-mail address and telephone number?
You are strongly recommended to enclose this information (although it is optional) since it allows the Office for Studies to get in touch with you easily in the event of any problem. Please make sure that you check your e-mail regularly.
- 9. I would like to apply for a place on a concrete specialization, but I can only see fields.
Studies at the University are organized as follows: The University offers degree programmes each of which has one or more fields of study. Some fields are further divided into specializations. Create your application by selecting a field from the ones offered. After providing your personal information, you will be asked to specify the specialization.
Application fee payment
- 10. How can I pay the application fee?
After you submit your application, you will be prompted to pay the application fee. The cheapest way of doing so is by card (no additional charges - applies to payments made from Slovakia as well). If you cannot pay by card, select the payment by bank transfer. The System will provide you with the bank account number and your unique payment identification number. Please use this information in your postal money order, payment order, or internet banking transaction document.
- 11. Payment-related problems
- I have underpaid the fee: Please make another payment to pay the rest using the right payment identification number.
- I made the payment two weeks ago, but its reception has not yet been confirmed in my application: Please scan your statement of account or the document substantiating your payment and send it to prihlaska@muni.cz.
- I have used a wrong or no payment identification number: Please scan your statement of account or any other document substantiating your payment and send it to prihlaska@muni.cz.
- Will you refund the fee if I opt not to take the entrance exam? - No, the application fee is non-refundable.
Important information for the applicants making a payment from abroad:
We recommend that you make the payment by card as it is cheaper (no fees).
If you cannot pay by card and decide to make the payment by bank transfer, it is vital that you do so in the OUR payment mode (please make sure your bank supports this).
Provided you make the payment in any other mode, it will become subject to charges to be covered by the recipient, thereby causing underpayment. In such a situation, your application will not be accepted.
If your bank does not support the OUR mode, you should increase the sum to be paid by the additional payment charges the following way:
- in the case of the SHA payment mode, the application fee + 50 CZK;
- in the case of the SLV payment mode, the application fee + 50 CZK.

- 12. What is the fee payment deadline?
Let us consider the following situation, where the application submission deadline is February 28: Provided you pay the application fee in the evening of February 28, its payment date might be that of the following day, i.e. March 1. That is why the University even accepts the payments made on March 1, or the first weekday following February 28. Therefore, you may also pay the fee in the morning of March 1 since its payment date will still be March 1. However, if you do so late in the afternoon of March 1, its payment date might be March 2 and, as a result, the fee might not be accepted.
The electronic application must be submitted by the midnight of deadline date (usually February 28), though. It is not possible to do so later on.
However, in the leap year, the application can be submitted by February 29.

- 13. I am a person with a serious physical disability or a specific learning disorder. Does this qualify me for being exempted from the entrance examination?
Since Masaryk University provides the applicants with disabilities with a special support, even such applicants are required to take the entrance examination. Provided you are one of these, please specify what special needs you have. Support Centre for Students with Special Needs (http://teiresias.muni.cz) will subsequently contact you and agree with you on specific procedures addressing your disability.
- 14. I would like to arrive in Brno a day before the examination. Are the applicants provided with some accommodation?
To get information about vacancies at MU dormitories during the period of entrance examinations, please use the contact address available at http://www.skm.muni.cz/. The applicants with physical disabilities can submit their special-need requests to Support Centre for Students with Special Needs (http://teiresias.muni.cz).
- 15. I have lost (or have not received) the letter of invitation. What shall I do?
The letter inviting the applicant to the entrance exam should reach him/her three weeks prior to the exam date at the latest. However, all the information on its time and venue can also be found in the applicant's electronic application. Although the applicants are not required to bring the letter to the exam, they must have a valid passport or identity card to be allowed to sit for it. They should also know the identification number of their application.
- 16. I do not understand some of the terms used in the description of fields of study.
- If you do not understand some terms related to the studies at the University, please read through the following section.
- Degree programme covers a certain specific area of studies, e.g. Physics, Humanities, etc. Every applicant is admitted to one of degree programmes offered. Each faculty may offer one or more fields of study within the same degree programme.
- Field of study specifies what the student specializes in within his/her degree programme. Students can enroll in one or more fields (depending on the type of studies since these can be single-subject or double-subject). During their studies, students can switch to some other field(s) within the same degree programme under certain circumstances. Fields may differ from each other in mode (see below).
- Interfaculty studies entail simultaneous studies in two different fields offered by two different faculties. The student's records are maintained under one of the faculties and that is also why the applicants for a place on interfaculty studies only submit their application to one of the faculties.
- Bachelor's degree programmes aim to prepare students for the jobs which require knowledge of the latest findings. The standard length of studies (including practical training) is usually three years. Bachelor's degree (Bc.) is conferred on the graduates of these programmes.
- Master's degree programmes aim to provide students with knowledge of the latest findings in the field of science, research and development and strive to teach them to use this knowledge in practice as well as develop their creative potential. The standard length of studies in these is five to six years. Master's degree programmes may also represent follow-ups to Bachelor's programmes in which case their standard length of studies is usually two years. The following degrees are conferred on the graduates of Master's degree programmes: MUDr. (medical doctor - in the case of General Medicine and Stomatology graduates), Ing. (in the case of the Faculty of Economics and Administration graduates) and Mgr. (in the others).
- Doctoral degree programmes involve scientific research and independent work in the field of development. The standard length of doctoral studies is three years. Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) is conferred on the graduates of these programmes.
- Full-time study mode allows students to attend lectures, seminars, classes, etc. given by academic staff.
- Distance study mode allows students to study with the aid of information means and does not require them to regularly attend classes.
- Combined study mode represents a combination of full-time and distance modes.
