Course objectives
The subject is focused on the care of a physiological newborn and it acquaints with the basics of intensive care of a newborn. They are introduced to classification of newborn state. They understand to adaptational reactions of newborn. After the participation in the course students will be able to recognize and evaluate the state of the newborn after the delivery and during the transitional period, perfom the basic screenings, uderstand of the impact of congenital and inherited diseases on children and their families. They gain knowledge of diganostics, therapy in risk newborn care.
Syllabus
  • Introduction, organization of recent neonatology and perinatology. System of work at field of physiology, pathology newborn and ICU system of rooming-in. Apgar score. Newborn's resuscitation. First care giving to newborn. Observation of newborn just after delivery. Screening at newborn. Newborn nutrition. Physiology and pathology of infantile period. Newborn with low delivery weight. Newborn with hyperbilirubinemia. Nevborn with congenital and inherited diseases.
