Prerequisites
The prerequisite for successful involvement in the course is pre-intermediate knowledge of general language which can be tested by completing a self-evaluation on-line test. In case the knowledge proves to be insufficient, it has to be acquired through individual study.

Course objectives
Language II/A is a recommended preparatory course. The prerequisite for an active participation in the course is pre-intermediate knowledge of general language which can be tested by completing a self-evaluation on-line test. The languge teaching focuses on reinforcement and improvement of general language skills (mastering grammar and expansion of vocabulary); specialized business terminology is used to a limited extent and in isolation.
Syllabus
  • Compound past tense, infinitive structures, the verbe mettre;
  • Compound past tense of reflexive verbs, periphrastic structures, the verb dire and voir, irregular plural; Word order in Compound past tense, pronoun position in imperative sentences, preposition structures, different meanings of que, adverb formation;
  • question pronouns qui, que, the verbs devoir, appeler, acheter; sans with infinitive;
  • Second verb class (finir), the verbs sortir, ouvrir, comparison, ordinal numerals, date, months;
  • partitive article, the verbs savoir, boire;
  • pronoun en,y, Present continuous (structure être en train de+inf.), street names, the verb connaître, numerals from 100;
  • imperfect, possessive pronouns, the verb croire;
  • word derivation, pronoun overview le, la, les, en, y;
  • adverbs en,y, partitive article in abstract words;
  • Present subjunctive (following the expression of will, order…), irregular comparison;
  • indeterminable pronoun tout, verbs with endings –ayer, (-oyer), essayer, payer; pleuvoir;
