Syllabus
  • The main aim of the course is to provide in depth knowledge of programming using modern API for Computer Graphics. After finishing the course, student should be able independently solve complex graphical applications completely using all abilities of modern graphical accelerators either on personal computers or graphical workstations. Pre-requisities are basic knowledge of Computer Graphics and orientation in C programming language. First, the student will get familiar with basic principles of rendering using modern graphical accelerators and with the sequence of rendering commands. Then he/she will be trained in all functions of OpenGL. First in basic data types and transformations, lighting and advanced methods like antialiasing, texture mapping, alpha blending and evaluators for Bézier curves and surfaces. The independent part of OpenGL are additional libraries and that is why the part of the course is description of two of the most important ones, GLU and GLUT. These libraries provide some more advanced methods like NURBS or generalized cylinders.
