Course objectives
The goal of this course is teaching basis techniques used in commercial geoinformation systems. The course is practically oriented, techniques are illustrated by examples.
Syllabus
  • An overview of basic notions of geo-information systems , land-oriented infor mation systems and cartography.
  • The hierarchy of spatial data: vector representation, raster representation a nd topological relations.
  • Spatial data structures and methods of an effective access (indexing a space).
  • Operational calculus over vector spatial data.
  • Raster representation.
  • Basic operations over raster data.
  • Topological relations and typical tasks used in geo-information technology.
  • Administration of spatial data, databases and techniques related to spatial data.
