Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following: acquainting students with the terminology of the leisure pedagogy; making students aware of human conception of the modern leisure pedagogy; analyzing the leisure education of in the modern world.
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the modern trends of the conception of leisure; interpret the result of the empirical research of leisure; interpret the offer program of the leisure institutions; make reasoned decisions about the leisure program.
Syllabus
  • Human, society and education in free time. Conception and function of free time.
  • Typology of free time activities in relationship with age, gender, education, locality and other variables.
  • Free time activities, classification, significance, methodes and forms of work.
  • Origin and significance of organized activity in free time (YMCA, YWCA, Sokol, scouting, League of Forest Wisdom, Czech Capming Union etc.).
  • Definition of games and their atributes, educational significance of games. Theories of games, their segmentation. History of games, metamorphosis of functions, motives, attitudes and aims of games in single develop ethapes of pedagogic. How to create and change the games. Danger of gambling (so-called gamblers games).
  • Associations and organisations caring for freetime education in the Czech Republic.
  • Overview of associations and organisations caring for freetime education in chosen European countries.
  • Legal rules, laws, ordinances and norms for work with children and youth and for organising various actions.
