Course objectives
The main goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge in Physical therapy and its usage in prevention, examination and therapy of musculoskeletal and nervous system influencing all parts of human existence as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation.
It´s important to meet a student with general principles of individual physical therapy parts, physiological or patophysiological organism response on their application and with possibilities of phototherapy and electrotherapy.
This theoretical course goes hand in hand with practical course Physical therapy in practice II.
Syllabus
  • Reflexology and its effects, physiological base.
  • Phototherapy - allocated within electromagnetic spectrum. UVA, UVB, UVC definition, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
  • IRA, IRB, IRC definition, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
  • Polarized light (biolamp) – general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
  • Polarized light (laser) – general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
  • Dividing of electrotherapy. General principles.
  • Electrodes and their wraps, ways of application, intensity. Contact and contactless electrotherapy.
  • Galvanic current (current density) and its application.
  • Iontophoresis, four-chamber bath with application of galvanic current (general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications).
  • Alternating and pulsed currents, terms.
  • Relationship between the type of current, the effect and intensity.
  • Low-frequency currents – Leduc´s, Farad´s, Neofarad´s.
  • H-waves. Träbert´s currents – electrodes placement, intensity, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
