Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Assessment of human performance in combat sports Introducing the conditioning and strength training for combat sports professionals and military/police special forces. Learning the correct combative techniques to prevent injury. Learning the basics of common combat sports injuries rehabilitation.
Learning outcomes
Students will acquire professional knowledge on combative training and improving skills in the field of combat sports and martial arts. Students will practice correct combative techniques and learn how to prevent injury. Students will learn and practice specific combat sports training methods. Individual screening will help the students to identify their personal strengths and weaknesses. Students will understand the differences and learn how to work with their body accordingly. Students will learn basics of common injury rehabilitation
Syllabus
  • • Principles of Basic Strength and Conditioning for Martial Arts & Combat Sports • General preparation: basic all body training with low intensity and high volume, body exercises, exercises in pairs, circuit training, interval training, TRX • Specific preparation: training the energy system (lactate training), high intensity interval training, explosive strength training, strength endurance training • eccentric strength training • ''smart'' machine training • Basic kicking techniques – front kick, side kick • Basic throwing techniques – osoto otoshi, seoi otoshi, seoi nage • functional movement screening (FMS) • exercises after most common injuries in Martial Arts & Combat Sports – elbow, shoulder, hamstring • Injury prevention • Prevention and strengthening exercises • Isokinetic testing • Field Hamstring testing
