Course objectives
Fundamentals of Neuroscience is one - semester course based on and reffered to the informations obtained in the course on Human Physiology, namely the structure and the function of a cell and the integration of nervous, endocrine and immune systems etc.
At the end of this course, student should be able:
1. Interpret recent findings about the structure and the function of central nervous system as a biological basis of human behavior and to mediate the comprehensive perspestive of it.
2. Understand the fundamentals of general neuroanatomy and neurophysiology and the organization, the function and the importance of the single functional systems of the central nervous system.
3. Be able to orient in the relative topics of pathological neurophysiology, neuroimaging, neuropsychology, neuropsychological assesment, neuropsychotherapy and rehabilitation and theirs connection to neuroscience (topics will be mentioned marginally).

  • 1. NEUROSCIENCE
  • Field of Knowledge of Neuroscience, Multidisciplinarity of Neuroscience: Neuroanatomy, Neurophysiology, Neurochemistry, Neuropsychology, Rehabilitation and Neuropsychotherapy
  • NERVOUS SYSTEM Nervous system: Anatomy and Physiology, Ontogenetic and Phylogenetic Development, Cortical Plasticity, Hindbrain, Midbrain, Forebrain, Limbic System Neuron : Cell organisation and Function, Transmission of the Information, Glial Cells, Membrane Potential and Action Potential, Synapsis, Neurotransmitters.
