Course objectives
The object of the course is to analyze political institutions, processes and policies in the Czech Republic on the base of theoretical knowledge of political science.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introduction into analysis of Czech policy 2) The most importatnt political participants, processes, "cleavages", networks in Czech policy. Levels of policy in the Czech Republic (local, regional, state, European, international) 3) Parliament of the Czech Republic (Chamber of Deputies, Senate) 4) President of the Czech Republic, the Office of the President of the Czech Republic Government, ministries and other central bodies of state administration 5) Lower levels of state administration, territorial and professional self-government 6) Constitutional Court, judiciary, Public Procecutor's Department, Supreme Audit Office, Ombudsman, Czech National Bank 7) Elections and direct democracy in the Czech Republic 8) Political parties and interest groups in the Czech political system 9) Budget and tax, financial, monetary, customs policy. 10) Industrial policy, building policy, mining policy, energy policy, transportation policy, telecommunication policy, agricultural and forestry policy, water supply and distribution policy. 11) Social policy, employment policy, health policy, educational policy, support of science and research, youth policy, cultural policy, sport policy, policy for minorities and marginalised groups, media, information policy. 12) Security (external, internal), foreign, environmental policy 13) Perspectives of the development of Czech policy
