Organizácia kurzu:
Kurz je jedno-semestrový, organizovaný vo forme prednášky (90 minút), týždenne 2 hodiny. Poslucháči majú k dispozícii pripravenú čítanku so základnými textami, ďalšia literatúra je k dispozícii v elektronickej podobe, v knižnici FSS a u prednášajúceho. Poslucháči zároveň budú od prednášajúceho dostávať texty týkajúce sa ďalšej prednášky vopred pred každým seminárom, tieto texty si môžu ponechať po skončení kurzu.

Course objectives
The course "Civil society and Public Sphere" analyses sociologically broad term of civil society since ancient times up to post-modern era. Students have a chance to acquire knowledge on two elementary dimensions of civil society - cultural and structural ones. The course differientied civil society within the communist regime and in a capitalistic system and analyze organized interests in a modern society and o the non-civic civil society. The course also elaborate on sustainability of the third sector and on developmnet of the third sector in the Czech republic. Students obtain knowledge on current theoretical discourse on civil society.

Teaching methods
Students systematically read reading materials for each seminar a they should demonstrate knowledge of obligatory readings. Power-point presentations are ready for every seminar and they are available to students.
Assessment methods
Evaluation of students:
Student can obtain as many as 50 points, in case of obtaining less than 20 points student fails. In order to get credits and pass the exam student must pass a test and deliver an essay. Each step will be evaluated as follows:
24 % - test /max. 12 points/
52 % - final essay /max. 26 points/
24 % - oral exam /max. 12 points/
