Prerequisites
The course is prepared for students of magister program of psychology focused on clinical psychology and psychotherapy and also for students of magister program of psychotherapy. The course is in form of interactive seminars and case discussions.

Course objectives
After successful graduation of the course PST 404 Psychotherapy and counseling in practice will be student able to:
understand demands and limitations of psychotherapeutic and counseling work in practice conditions; focus their professional interest based on real demands of practice; reflect on clients in context of professional service, which clients use; work with case formulations of psychotherapy and counseling; connect understanding of work context and therapeutic case narratives;
Syllabus
  • The course consists of interactive seminars. Topics of seminars are listed in syllabus, some examples of seminar themes:
  • Possibilities of therapeutic and counseling work in somatic departments of hospital
  • Psychotherapy in clinical practice: possibilities and limits. Psychotherapeutic diagnostics and case formulations.
  • Psychotherapeutic work in psychiatric hospital
  • Counseling and therapy in social services
  • Possibilities of therapeutic and counseling work in school
  • Each seminar includes case study and common interactive case analysis. Specifics and limits of counseling and therapeutic work of chosen work contexts are presented on seminars. Students can enrich discussion with the questions about possibilities of professional work or any aspects of work in chosen context. Active presentation of own thoughts and questions is required.

seminars; study of recommended texts connected to the topic of seminars; presentation of a clinical case; analysis of a clinical case; discussion about presented clinical case; training of clinical case formulation; discussion about context specifics of work with client;

Evaluation methods:
Observing of active involvement of students to the case study analysis and discussion.;
Evaluation of written essay;
Teamwork: Analysis of video for colloquium;
Final examination will be in group discussion - colloquium;
