Course objectives
Given the increasingly global trend of multimedialization, students of journalistic are required to get ready for this type of work in their future profession. The course called On-line journal Stisk will focus on the application of students' knowledge and the development of their practical skills. The on-line journal Stisk is a practical workshop for students and will be presented as an independent news site in the Multimedia Project. This project is based on the idea of an interactive web interface, reflecting the latest trends in multimedia journalism.
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
to understand practical routines in the multimedia newsrooms;
to write for on-line daily;
to learn and practise multimedia journalism.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will acquire such practical and functional knowledge and skills in the field, which will enable them to follow the professional experience in journalistic work and in editing media products and then to make professional work in basic journalistic positions on their own.

  • First week: Introduction to on-line media organization and writing.
  • Week 2-12: Writing for on-line daily.
  • Week 13: Evaluation of students articles and media organization.

Teaching methods
Seminars and practical journalistic work. Teaching takes place in seminar groups focused on individual types of media - online (including printed media), television, radio. Each seminar group works as a newsreader of the relevant media type, produces journalistic products from the idea / tip to the final placement in the training Internet media. Simulated practical learning from doing. Mentoring from experts. Creating a media product. Project oriented learning. Developing teamwork.
Assessment methods
Each student must produce a specified number of journalistic products in a minimum of sufficient quality and work as a member of the group/editorial team (editor or editor-in-chief) for at least one production week of the training medium. The activity and quality of search for appropriate topics in seminars/meetings plus work with information and resources and the resulting product processing (article, audio or video post) are evaluated. The resulting mark is then awarded according to the number of points achieved in total.

General note: Podmínkou zápisu je absolvování předmětů ZUR105 Úvod do žurnalistiky (dříve Úvod do zpravodajství) a ZUR130 Úvod do zpravodajství (dílna).
Information on course enrolment limitations: Přednostní právo zápisu mají studenti oborové specializace "žurnalistika", a to i v případě, že se přihlásí později než studenti jiných specializací a oborů.
