Course objectives
The course introduces students to the issues of measurement and analysis of ratings and media readership. The aim of the course is to map current practices in this area, to acquaint students with key analytical categories and procedures and with available data types.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
navigate the current types of ratings measurements of Czech and European media
obtain and interpret ratings data
take into account the strengths and limits of specific ratings measurements in their work
Syllabus
  • The course is taught in the form of a one-time block workshop in which the following topics are discussed:
  • industry associations
  • media research types, specific research projects and their specifics
  • printing: basic metrics and results
  • radio: basic metrics and results
  • television: basic metrics and results
