Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the course is to present the basic ideas concerning political disobedience and their representations in American and European Popular culture
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. The nature of political obligation – moral, philosophical and practical aspects; 2. Political disobedience – theoretical and moral aspects;3. From protest through civil disobedience to violence – forms of political disobedience; 4. The practice of political disobedience in-depth; 5. Analysis of selected popular culture texts dealing with problems of political disobedience (for example: Alan Moore’s and David Lloyd’s graphic novel V for Vendetta and its film adaptation)
Teaching methods (in Czech)
Lecture and discussion.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Active participation and full attendance during lessons. (Participation will be checked.) Essay based on the course´s theme and it´s bibliography. 3-5 pages at least. The theme will be precised at the course´s ending.
