Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: know the history of the state and the law in selected Asian, African and Latin American countries;
analyze important legal sources from these countries;
understand actual evolution of theses countries in the historical context
Syllabus
  • History of the state and law in ancien Egypt, Mesopotamia, in Persian Empire, in Hittite Empire, in ancient China and India
  • Origin of Islam. The history of the Arab Caliphate. Sources of the islamic law
  • Legal history of the Seljuk Turks and Ottoman Empire
  • State and law in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the Middle Ages
  • Early civilizations and states in Latin America. The Spanish and Portuguese colonial system in Latin America
  • The legal history of Philippines
  • Forms of French Administration in Maghreb
  • The Japanese Fascism
  • Origin of independent states in Asia and Africa after World War II
