Course objectives
This subject is theoretically practical. The target of the classes is to inform students about how to asses a client in health as well as in illness by particular discussion, observation, information, extraction from documentation with a consideration of specific needs of individuals and families. Adequate response to problematic situations in the midwifery practice is taught in this subject. The aim of this subject is practices midwife’s skills and knowledge and methods in area needs in midwifery.
Syllabus
  • Course contents: introduction to the theory of needs; human needs and their classification; Maslow's hierarchy and its modifications, analysis of bio-psycho-socio-spiritual needs; assessment, diagnosis and saturation needs of woman and her family; case studies.

Teaching methods
Practical training according syllabus with simulators,video presentions, communication with pateints. Active work with documentation. Teaching schedule includes teaching and learning with students of clinical cases.
Assessment methods
Tutorial methods: - interactive lessons, practice lessons, discussion, case report interpretation, group interview Type of teaching - interactiva lecture, practice lessons, discussion, group interview. Active participation is expected, pairwork, teamwork. Requirements for the finishing of practice, form of finishing: credit - 80 per cent participation on the teaching, presentation of the personality of the student herself (basic anamnestic data, family, professional career and aims, hobbies). Students will be informed about the requirements for getting the credit in written form, a seminar paper on a certain topic will be set (5 given topics and 1 topic of one's own) according to the requirements given. The content of the paper may be personal reflections and experiences supported by citation and examples from literature. A clear grasp of the topic, expression of an opinion of one's own, and ability to work with sources (literature) will be evaluated. Content and professional quality of the topic will be evaluated by the teacher who will decide whether the seminar paper fulfills the requirements and exhausts the given topic.
