Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to introduce grammar as a system and study it as a complex whole with a focus on functions and meanings. The seminar is a practical addition to the lecture. The course also teaches basic language terminology.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able to: demonstrate important theoretical knowledge of the vocabulary; classify parts of speech; to distinguish between Czech and French, recognize the cause of mistaces in sentences; apply acquired knowledge in reading, oral and written speech.
Syllabus
  • 1. Noun. 2. Noun with individual articles. Omitting the articles. Article with class nouns and proper names. Article with a nominal predicate or a complement. 3. Regular formation of plural, exception. Plural of combined words and foreign names. 4. Adjectives (adjectifs qualificatifs), regular formation of feminine gender, plural,comparison. Exceptions. 5. Pronouns (adjectifs déterminatifs), individual kinds, their position in a sentence. 6. Verbs: regular conjugation in indicative.
