Course objectives
The subject offers up-to-date topics related to francophone countries, which lead to the improvement of students' written and oral argumentation skills. Topics are selected to encourage students to think and express their own views in a clear and structured way. At the end of this course, students should be able: to comprehend articles and reports on contemporary issues in French-speaking countries; to interpret these texts in both oral and written forms.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course the student should be able to: understand articles and reports dealing with current problems in French-speaking countries; interpret texts verbally and in writing.
Syllabus
  • Selected texts and documents, newspapers articles. Developing the four competencies - reading and listening, speaking and writing. Articles are selected so as to develop a discussion of the topic.

Assessment methods
Workshop Ending: credit. Requirements for ending: meet the workshop requirements and the active participation (70%). Written argumentation. Oral argumentation.
