Course objectives
By the end of this seminar the students will be able to distinguish cultured form of national language in its written as well as spoken form. This subject follows up with the linguistic disciplines Fundaments of the Czech Language and Phonetics and phonology of the Czech language. The first seminaries are concentrated in the elaboration and intensification of the language knowledge. After that the explanation of the language correctness and propriety in the orthography and morphology or in other language planes and evaluation of some linguistic phenomena, those are often discussed. The students will deal with the correction of the texts, too.
Syllabus
  • 1. Language, the system of language. Language plans, linguistic disciplines. 2. Literary x non-literary speech. Correctness in the language. Language norms, codification. Handbooks dealing with codification and their using. 3. Graphical plan of the language. Graphical form of the texts. Czech orthography. Orthography and language correctness. 4. Morphological plan of the language. Correctness in the morphology. Morphological codification in the past and in the contemporary language. 5. The most frequent dissimilarities of the language correctness and their causes. 6. The most frequent dissimilarities of the language correctness in the texts of the pupils and students and chance of their elimination. 7. Orthographically and lexical correction of written texts.

Teaching methods
The type of tuition: seminar. The tuition will have a form of language and orthographical excercises - spoken and written. Part of final evaluation is a seminar written thesis. Materials will be given to the students during the first class.
Assessment methods
The subject is concluded by credit course. The knowledge of discussed matter will be verified by written tests in each semminar session, part of the seminar will also be student´s outcomes focused on cultivation of their teaching skills.
