Course objectives
Course goals: To provide an introduction to the development of the American literature from its beginnigs to the end of 20th century, focusing on the most importants themes and genres. The course aims to develop the reading and narrative skills of students, and their general knowledge of the American literature. The texts used in classes will represent the most important literary themes and forms arranged chronologically.

  • Week 1 Introduction, requirements, general development of the American literature.
  • Week 2: Autobiographies, letters, diaries, essays.
  • Week 3: Poetry.
  • Week 4: Novels.
  • Week 5: Novels.
  • Week 6: Drama, and short stories.
