Course objectives
The main objective is to improve the students' English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes will be based on different topics connected with cultural studies and students'perception of various cultures. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students.At the end of the course students should be able to understand how to present a topic of interest to them. They should be able to interpret texts of an advanced level and be able to respond to advanced-level input with a high level of accuracy.

Teaching methods
Students will take part in pair-work, group-work, class discussions and online forums and will be expected to participate in on-line forums, write an assignment, and work on their portfolios.
Assessment methods
Continuous assessment is based on the results of the final test, written assignment, contributions to forums, and self-assessment in portfolios. The test will include the vocabulary and grammar covered in class or assigned for homework, a listening part, a reading part, and an open question that students will have to answer at some length. The pass mark is 70%.
