Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand the system of German verb forms, they can use the regular and irregular verbs. They are able to determine the tense forms and to use the active and passive forms. They understand the modality and the conditional. An important part is also theoretical background students should become familiar with, essential terminology connected with German language learning as well as teaching.

  • - Finite and infinite verb forms,
  • - morphological classification of verbal lexemes,
  • - syntactic classification and morphological correlates,
  • - semantic classification and selection of auxiliaries,
  • - modals and their functions,
  • - synthetic and periphrastic forms,
  • - mood system (conjunctive and imperative),
  • - active and passive
