Course objectives
At the end of the course the student should be able to develop out-of-school reading activities of children. On the basis of the gained skills the student will be able to prepare and carry out projects aimed at supporting child readership and to apply those projects at school as well.
Syllabus
  • The content of the subject changes each term according to the activities of the Centre for Child Readership of the Jiří Mahen Library. 1) Reader’s propaedeutic 2) Working with child readers in libraries 3) Activities of the Centre for Child Readership of the Jiří Mahen Library and other libraries 4) Assisting in projects connected with child readers.

Teaching methods
An introductory theoretical preparation is followed by a practice in the Centre for Child Readership of the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno.
Assessment methods
A colloquium; the colloquium debate reflecting the practical part of the training may be substituted by a report on a project carried out during the practice in the library. A prerequisite of the colloquium is also an evaluation of the student’s practice by an employee of the Centre for Child Readership.
