Course objectives
The students will be able to understand, explain and use the knowledge of physical education in the area of sports games. They will be able to use the knowledge and skills in teaching sports games to younger school-aged children. They will be able to diagnose the technique of various physical skills and design suitable preparatory exercises and games to improve the quality of execution of a specific physical skill. They will be knowledgeable about the rules of sports games adapted for younger school-aged children (e.g. colour volleyball), and will be able to organize school tournaments in the first stage of elementary schools.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic concepts associated with the activities, safety and hygiene of sports games, suitable clothing and footwear.
  • 2 – 12. The exercises include even proportions of basketball, floorball, football, handball and volleyball. The content of the exercises (2-12) designed for individual sports games is specified below: Marking and equipment of the playing area, roles in the game, simplified rules, basic principles of cooperation, organisation of a match, sports games in education programmes, preparatory and game-related exercises for ball handling, basic passes, movement with and without the ball, controlling the ball, shooting, defence, preparatory sports games and games with rules adapted to available equipment and students’ skills.
