Course objectives
B2 level language course. Its aim is to improve and extend basic skills essential for comprehending various scientific sources of information, and develop the listening, speaking and writing skills, both in general as well as specialized language.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to: understand spoken LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; understand to written LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; produce an informal email; produce an argumentative essay; give an oral presentation on a specialist topic; show a good command of selected grammar structures at B2 level of the CEFR; use selected specialist terminology with natural and sophisticated control
Syllabus
  • 1) Development of speaking skills enabling students to deal with common conversation topics and about special issues related to their study (university, educational systems, student’s subjects of study, bachelor’s and master’s thesis). 2) Development of reading skills in order to enable students to comprehend complicated general and specialized scientific texts. 3) Systematic development of vocabulary in general and academic level as well as in basic specialized terminology. 4) Development of listening skills, especially in terms of general language. 5) Revision and development of grammar awareness in respect to features of a formal style. 6) Development of writing skills and summarizing of a scientific article, skimming the text, finding key words and relevant information and the development of the ability to express the opinion.

Teaching methods
Student must actively participate in the class, prepare regulary home assignments. Recommendation of reading and listening russian texts. In the class - listening, understanding of texts, translation to Czech, training of grammar, writing of annotation and summary, common and academic conversation, training of special presentation.
Assessment methods
Russian Language Practical Level B2 Course. Discussions and presentations. Continuous assessment. Final examination test - text analysis, key words, scanning, expressing opinion in writing (Pass limit 65 %).
