Course objectives
The course contributes to basic orientation in the field of Drama education and its practical usage. Students will be familiar with the basic concepts, selected methods and techniques connected with Drama education. Students will design and realize a structured unit for further usage in the course „Pedagogical - Psychological practice“. The aim of the course is to introduce to students the Drama Education as a way how to use principles and procedures of drama art in the educational process as they support the studens´ creativity and contribute to their personal and social development. At the end of the course the student should be able to: Understand the field of Drama Education in the context of Art, Pedagogy and Psychology. Design and realize a short structured unit based on a literary model in which he will use the methods and techniques of Drama Education. Interpret scientific literature connected with Drama Education.

Syllabus
  • Drama Education its pedagogical, psychological and artistic aspects and its position in the educational system in the Czech republic. Methods and techniques of Drama Education and their usage while working with a story. Group sensitivity, improvisation. Storytelling and its techniques. Play in a role, psycho-somatic unity. Theatre symbol, theatre abbreviation and methaphor. Play with a subject, real, substitute and imaginary prop. Structured dramatic unit, thematisation of the story. Student´s own realization of a teaching lesson based on active storytelling.
