Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce geographic and pedagogical research methods and their application in practice (on a sample of quantitative and qualitative data).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
Search, collect, organize and interpret geographic information and data sources.
Analyse data using basic statistical methods.
Analyse qualitative data.
Syllabus
  • 1. A basic outline of research methods, data, information and its sources, basic statistical concepts, graphs, cartograms and diagrams, theoretical distribution, correlation and timelines.
  • 2. Elaboration of the data (table, graph, statistical map and its basic components and principles of geographical data).
  • 3. Descriptive statistics and its use in practice.
  • 4. Methods of timelines and their importance for the analysis of development tendencies.
  • 5. Use of special SW for data analysis in geography.
  • 6. Data presentation.
