Course objectives
Students will have hands-on experience in using various methods and techniques of TEFL. They will cover the basic principles of teaching and developing language skills and systems, they will consider the differences in teaching various levels and age groups, they will choose and evaluate materials for their lessons and they will learn how to give feedback to their prospective students and peers. The modes of delivery will include: - reading assignments - model-analysis – reflection - loop input The practical tasks will include: - compiling the teaching portfolio - planning a lesson - microteaching The participants will be expected to reflect on their teaching and learning experience based on the EPOSTL (European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages) and they will react to some issues in writing.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
- active participation in sessions (if less than 50% attendance, see the teacher) - EPOSTL, a teaching portfolio (see further on for details) to be submitted before the final examination - Written tasks throughout the term - microteaching ( 1 lesson plan to be submitted and 5-minute slot teaching) to be done before the end of the spring term or a recorded lesson with the lesson plan
