Course objectives
Mechanics is the first discipline of university courses of general physics. Such its role is determined by its illustrativity and accessibility to human seńsuous perceiving. The discipline is devoted to students of physics and physics teaching. The main goal is followed: To present to students the problems and methods of mechanics.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
Basic knowledge of the system of physics as a discipline.
Ability to identify fundamental elements of a physical discipline.
Ability to obtain derived assertions from principles of classical mechanics
Ability to construct simplified models od mechanical systems.
Ability to interpret fundamental experiments in mechanics.
Syllabus
  • Cinematics - Motion Description Motion Equations and their solutions. Basic ideas of mechanics. Newton Laws Work and mechanical energy, mechanics of two-particle isolated system. Mechanics of particle systems: Momentum and angular momentum, momentum laws and conservation laws. Motion of rigid bodies. Mechanics of continuous media: Equilibrum of a liquid.
