Course objectives
The aim of the subject is: - to improve students knowledge of Curriculum and Instruction (also called General Didactics), acquired in master study programme - interpret new knowledge - apply new knowledge and skills in practice - interpret current educational issues - use information about these issues to improve teachers’ awareness The emphasis is on the enhancement of didactic thinking, especially in relation to the two key subjects – Philosophy of education and Methodology of scientific work.
Syllabus
  • Topics Educational theories and educational theories as different didactic concepts. Educational aims and concepts and their historical transformations. The theories of formal and material education, general and scholarly education. The content and process dimension of the curriculum. The educational process. The classification of modern educational theories and their characteristics. Education in the information society. The personality of a pupil in the educational process. Pupils learning styles. The role of the teacher in the educational process. Teachers concept and style. Traditional and nontraditional teaching methods and organisational teaching forms. An overview of alternative movements in education.

Assessment methods
- at the oral examination the student randomly selects one of the topics covered in the lectures/seminars, an appropriate response has to be given to the topic and examiner’s possible further questions
