Course objectives
Paediatrics
The main objectives of teaching students are familiar with the risks and diseases of childhood, inc. the pre-and perinatal, with options early prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis is placed on early detection of health problems, teamwork with other specialists, educators, fast and effective decisions in emergency situations.
Various pathological entities are discussed in terms of risk factors, etiology, symptoms, development, clinical picture, complications, consequences and prognosis with information on possible ways of prevention, treatment, educational intervention.
Brief thematic overview: Growth and development of the child, his disorder-periods of childhood and their characteristics-heredity and environment, external and internal causes of disease-anomalies and malformations-risk newborn pathology-exchange materials and energy-disease endocrine-disorders heart and vascular system of blood-disease-cancer-gastrointestinal diseases respiratory-disease-kidney and urinary-tract disorders of immunity and allergic diseases-infectious disease syndrome-CAN-injury-meaning family for the child, pediatric aspects of foster care.
Outcomes from learning
Upon successful completion of this course student will know the basic facts about growth and development of children, child age periodization, risk and protective factors affecting health. Obtained orientation in the problems of selected non-communicable diseases and infectious etiology, will provide an overview of the causes, symptoms, development, treatment and prevention.
Syllabus
  • 1st Health, its definition of quality. External (biological, chemical, physical, social) and internal (genetics, disposition, aging, immunity) factors adversely affecting the health
  • 2nd Prevention and its division, prophylaxis, protection and health promotion
  • 3rd Basic knowledge of Human Genetics: terminology, normal and abnormal karyotype
  • 4th Numerical and structural variations in karyotype, mutation, monogenic and polygenic inheritance
  • 5th Growth and development of the child, including his influence. pre-and perinatal care
  • 6th Period of childhood (neonatal, infant, toddler, preschool, school, adolescent), their characteristics, antisocial significant health risks, protection options
  • 7th Risk neonate-definition, significance, causes, prevention, treatment
  • 8th Neonatal jaundice - definition, importance, etiology, therapy
  • 9th The most common diseases threatening the newborn, pre-, peri-and postnatal complications
  • 10th Disorders of energy metabolism, diabetes, congenital metabolic disorders
  • 11th Hypothalamic-pituitary system, its function and significance; peripheral endocrine glands-norm and pathology
  • 12th The most common respiratory diseases-general principles, types, of course, risks, prevention and treatment
  • 13th Diseases of the heart and blood circulation - an overview, diagnosis, prevention, treatment
  • 14th Diseases of the blood-overview, diagnosis, prevention, treatment
  • 15th Cancer - an overview, diagnosis, prevention, treatment
  • 16th Development jaw disorders, diseases of the teeth, cleft lip and palate
  • 17th The most common diseases of the digestive tract-general principles, types, of course, risks, prevention and treatment
  • 18th Anomalies and developmental defects of kidney hydronefrosa, urinary tract infections, incontinence, nephrotic syndrome, urinary stones, kidney failure
  • 19th Immune disorders, congenital and acquired defects
  • 20th Allergies in general, are more common pathological entity, their development, diagnosis, influence
  • 21st General principles of, and preventing the spread of infections (epidemiological pattern), vaccination, antibody-administered benefits and risks
  • 22nd The most common infectious diseases of childhood (respiratory, alimentary, portable blood, direct contact, etc.), their etiology, treatment and prevention
  • 23rd The importance of the family for the child, pediatric aspects of foster care
  • 24th Problems of maltreated and abused child Syndrome (CAN), the basic types of social pathology, the early detection and prevention
  • 25th Children's accidents and their prevention.

Teaching methods
Lecture with lots of difficult interpretation of the substance, theoretical preparation of the recommended print and electronic information sources. Feedback - the audience response during a lecture or in consultation hours.
Assessment methods
Examination in the student performs writing in the form of a test containing 60 questions. Lines to test the public respect the content of binding textbook chapters (the script). The successful completion of the test requires students to achieve at least 40 points, with each correct answer to the question is rated 1 point. The student has to fill the test available to a maximum of 60 minutes of time. In case of disagreement, the student or other barriers which prevent it from writing to meet the (test), you can try to also orally. Teachers entering students 3 questions, based on the syllabus of the course, give him a written preparation.
