Course objectives
Analysis of the fundamental and most typical features of the individual dialects to be made on live dialect texts (including CDs). Detailed discussions on Czech Language Atlas maps. Analysis of Czech-German dialect contacts once and today. Dialect/standard language relationship in present-day language, position and function of the so-called Common-Czech. Contemporary tendencies and trends.

  • 1. Criteria of classification of the Czech language dialects. 2. Geographical dialects of the Czech language, characteristic of these. 3. Czech Language Atlas maps. 4. Analyses of dialect texts. 5. Dialect/standard language relationship in present-day language, position and function of the so-called Common-Czech. 6. Czech-German dialect contacts - once and today.
