Course objectives
The aim of the course is to improve language and communication skills of the students (their reading, listening, speaking and writing skills), to advance their fluency in dialogues and monologues. By the end of the course students will able to understand authentic Russian texts and recordings, they will able to write in Cyrillic alphabet and to apply basic grammar rules in practice, they will be able to read texts in Russian and to speak on a given topic, the will be able to compose a dialogue and monologue on a given topic, and to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is able to understand Russian authentic texts and recordings, master the written Cyrillic and basic grammatical rules, can read texts in Russian language and speak on given topics, is able to create dialogue and monologue on given topic, apply acquired knowledge and skills in practice.
Syllabus
  • 1 – 2. My family and relationships. Family tree. Dialogues on the topic “Family”.
  • 3 – 4. How do you relax? What is your favorite season of the year? Leisure time activities.
  • 5 – 6. My favorite meal. What can you cook? What recipes do you know? Discussion.
  • 7 – 8. Public and intercity transportation. How do I get to school / work? How will I get to school / library / center? Making dialogues.
  • 9 – 10. Means of transportation. Their advantages and disadvantages. How much is a ticket? Where can I reserve / buy tickets?
  • 11 – 12. Norms of the telephone conversation in Russian. Work in pairs. Mobile phones - their advantages and disadvantages. Can you switch off your mobile phone?
