Course objectives
The aim is to acquaint PhD students with the basic concepts of language philosophy, to acquaint them with the history of language philosophy and with in modern trends of it. The acquired knowledge will be applied by students to their own research project.
Learning outcomes
- to acquire basic concepts - to understand the importance of philosophy of language based on its history - to learn the current development of the philosophy of language from the theory of representation to the enacting theory of language - to apply this knowledge to your own project

  • Philosophy as a necessary "level of context". Relation between philosophy and language. History of language philosophy. Modern philosophical approaches to language: Representation theory; Expression theory and language function.
