Course objectives
Literary works from the 10th to 15th centuries should inspire the students to learn to know the thinking of mediavel men and women.
Syllabus
  • - the deepest presuppositions of medieval thought: the order of words and things
  • - the imagination (projections) of medieval social order (monarchy and church)
  • - medieval religiosity
  • - man and woman, love and sexuality
  • - myths and chronicles, past and present
  • - chivalrous culture, medieval ethics and courtesy
  • - the world of symbols
  • - medieval popular culture, laugh and festivity
  • - fear and obsessions
