Course objectives
The lecture will discuss the theory of Ideas - one of the most important topics in the Plato's philosophy. It will show to the students the dialogues that are related to this problem and it will also bring out the interpretations of newer philosophers. Aristotle's critique of the theory of Ideas will be also shown.
Syllabus
  • 1. Plato's ideas about the Ideas - the dialogues Symposium, Phaedo, the Republic, Phaedrus, Parmenides, the Sophist, Timaeus, Philebus. 2. The modern interpretations of the theory of Ideas. 3. Aristotle's critique of Plato's Ideas (Metaphysics).

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Kurz proběhne formou přednášky. Závěrečné hodnocení bude mít formu kolokvia (tedy ústní podobu) o problémech probraných na přednášce na základě vlastní četby studenta. Student je povinen zvolit si alespoň jeden primární text (tj. z Platónových dialogů uvedených v osnově) a k němu si vybrat vhodnou studii z uvedené sekundární literatury.
