Course objectives
The main aims of the course are:
- the explication of the particularity of the memoir literature;
- the assumption of its characteristics, its position in the genre system;
- the explication of the historical evolution of the memoir literature, its transformation of ideas and forms;
- the understanding of the new trends in the memoirs;
- the application of the knowledge during the interpretaion of the chosen texts.
Characteristics of literature of memoirs and the place of memoirs in the genre system (among non-fiction, fiction and journalism). Development and changes of the genre since 16th century. Characteristic of the most important works.

Assessment methods
The lecture is based on the methods of the explication, the analysis and the application. The lecture is terminated by the colloquium. For the colloquium students have to bring the list of the reading material of their own choice.
