Course objectives
Lecture and seminar cycle should offer to the students the basic overwiew about the development of the Latin script at the antique period, it means since the VII. Century BC to the VI. Century AD. Students shoudl be able to distinguish the typ of the script and its dating as well as paleographic characteristic of the script, they should be able to make a paleographical analysis and comparison and transcription of ancient latin texts. Very important is knowledge of the basic literature to the antique Latin script and Latin papyrology including main editions/book series. At the end of the programme the student should be able to:
- use the knowledges from the development od the latin script from the VII.th Cent. B. C. to the VI.th Cent. on the historical sources;
- transcribe selected original classical Latin texts;
- analyse and read original classical Latin texts
