Course objectives
At the end of the practical course students will acquire skills in academic writing. Students will cope with writing, editing and critical evaluating of the scientific essays. An important part of the course will be also an approach to the special publications and information sources.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to the new media study. Media, intermedia, multimedia, new media. The tradition rethought. New ideas of traditional forms of the artistic expression? Basis preliminaries of the academic work. Critique of the information sources, bibliography. Reliability of the Internet. Position of the libraries in 21. century. Original thinking versus copy. Basic principles of the text critique - quotations, notes etc. Structure of the scientific text and its formal requisities.

Teaching methods
Reading and interpretation of basic essays. Training basic skills in academic writing: summarizing, critical thinking, argumentation.
Assessment methods
Credit.
Seminar, practical course. Active participation in lectures is demanded. All homeworks must be handed in order to obtain a credit.
