Course objectives
The purpose of the seminar is the acquirement of the operation with the scientific literature (working with the sources, methods of the searching in the sources, citation based on the valid norms). Students acquaint with the history of the bibliography (within the frame of the Czech republic), with the basic types of the bibliography. Students acquaint with the valid norms of the citation in the archaeological scientific work.
Syllabus
  • The working in the course is divided into the five topic subjects:
  • 1 – History and current posture of the bibliography as a science in the Czech republic.
  • 2 – Apprising with the basic types of the bibliographies.
  • 3 – Apprising with rules of the citation in the archaeological texts.
  • 4 – Apprising with the rules with the emendation (proofreading) of the archaeological texts.
  • 5 – Apprising with the archaeological periodic and non-periodical literature in the Czech republic and in the neighbouring states.
  • In the end of the course gives each student written-elaborated bibliography with archaeological topic. In this bibliography students employ knowledge about all five topic subjects and reduce the rules of the citation to practise.

Teaching methods
General Apprising with the scientific archaeological Literature. General Apprising with the Rules for Authors of the scientific Papers and with the Correction of the scientific Paper. The theoretical class with the Quotations and the Citations. The Practise with the Quotations and the Citations in the scientific Papers.
Assessment methods
Requirements for credits: a written paper about the archaeological periodic and non-periodical productions from the library's collection; written-elaborated archaeological bibliography; sufficient activity in the seminar
