Ideálne je, ak má študent pred začatím tohto kurzu absolvované Japonské dejiny, minimálne však aspoň Úvod do Japanistiky. Nie je však prerekvizitou!

Course objectives
Cieľom predmetu je osvojiť si základné znalosti o japonskej literatúre z hľadiska období, žánrov a autorských prístupov. Kurz je zameraný teoreticky a prakticky. Teoretická časť (zhruba prvých 8 prednášok) poskytne základný prehľad. Na jeho základe potom študenti, prezentujúci prečítané prekladové diela, o nich budú viesť diskusie (zhruba posledné štyri prednášky) a ozrejmovať si v praxi teoretické údaje.
Po absolvovaní kurzu študent oceňuje priame poznávanie literatúry čítaním, má jasnú predstavu o vnútornej súvzťažnosti japonskej literatúry, identifikuje jej obdobia, žánre a doležitých autorov a rozoznáva súvislosti medzi literárnymi dielami navzájom, ako aj medzi literatúrou a ostatnými neliterárnymi sférami (úloha doby a prostredia, autorský zámer, vplyvy a recepcie, obmedzenia).
Účasť na výučbe je povinná.

  • 3. Emancipation of vernacular writing (high Heian and late Heian: prose)
  • 4. Turning back to the golden heian times (Kamakura)
  • 5. New prestigeous forms for the new shogunate (Muromachi)
  • 6. Literature for townsmen (Edo)
  • 7. Old and new (from Meiji onwards)
  • 8. After the war: further old-and-new fracture

Teaching methods
Lectures, class discussions, self-study selected readings.
Assessment methods
The assessment will have two parts: the assessment of the presentation of the translated piece of literature the student has read, and a final written examination. The assessment of the presentation forms 50% of the genereal assessment.
