Course objectives

Educational psychology: Psychological laws regarding changes in subjects, effected by educational process. Students will be introduced into basic and latest knowledge of this special discipline with application of theory to practical settings of everyday learning, teaching, education and self-education.

Syllabus

• 1. Unsuccessful students. General aspects influencing the educational success. Causes of school failure. Typical and non-typical unsuccessful student. Educational and psychological intervention.
• 2. Psychological aspects of school examination. Exams, evaluation and school classification accuracy. Types of exams.
• 3. Exam fever.
• 4. Personality of teacher. Typology. Personality development, self-reflection and continuous process of self-improving. Teacher - student relationship. Attitudes and commitments.
• 5. Teaching styles of teachers. Communication in education. Characteristics. Uniqueness of pedagogical communication.
• 6. School social climate. School class climate. Terminology and research. Influencing school social climate and school class climate.
• 7. Psychology of education and self-education. Requirements, punishment and rewards in education. Role playing as a model of teaching. Verbal, non-verbal, direct and indirect education. Personality and self-education.
• 8. School behavioral problems and social pathological phenomenons. Lying, cheating, stealing, indiscipline, truancy and risk-taking behavior.
• 10. Re-education. Personality change. Bad habits.
• 11. School difficulties, overloading and coping strategies.
