Course objectives
The subject is focused to get knowledge of protection principles of intangible cultural heritage on the national and international level. Students will be informed about the mechanism of this protection in the Czech Republic. They will be in training for preparation of nomination folk culture demonstrations and they will take a practice to inscribing of selected phenomenons on the national inventory.
Syllabus
  • UNESCO´s Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was accepted in Paris, 2003. The purposes of this Convention are: to safeguard the intangible cultural heritage, to ensure respect for the intangible cultural heritage of the communities, groups and individuals concerned, to raise awareness at the local, national and international levels of the importance of the intangible cultural heritage, to provide for international cooperation and assistance. The content of the subject is rising of this general purposes of the Convention and is applicating these on the concrete examples in the Czech Republic. Teachers of this course are ethnologists and personalities of practical sphere, which engage in problems of intangible cultural heritage and its protection. At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the content of activities UNESCO, to identify demonstrations of the traditional folk culture suitable for national or international protection and to create the project for inscribing on the national inventory.
