Course objectives
Main objectives of the course can be summerized as follows: to learn about the basic philosophical notions and main tendencies of European philosophical rationality; structure of philosophical disciplines; relation between philosophy and mythology, religion and science.

  • 1. What is philosophy - searching meaning - critical thinking - history of philosophy - structure of philosophy, philosophical disciplines - relation between philosophy and myth, philosophy and science, philosophy and ideology
  • 2. Ontology, basic problems - subject of ontology - categories of ontology - ontological systems
  • 3. Gnoseology - problem of intelligibility - rationalism a empirism - problem of truth - language and knowledge
  • 4. Axiology - problems of values and evaluation
  • 5. Philosophical anthropology - main problems
  • 6. Social philosophy, philosophy of history

Lecture, seminar discussions.
Assessment methods
There is an entrance test before the first lecture. Written final exam. Written examination consisting of 8 questions focusing on the basic notions of the discipline. Written examination aimed at testing the student’s insight into the main theories, concepts and methodologies of the discipline, or in the work of the main representatives of the scholarly discourse, and at checking the student’s ability to connect relevant facts into logical relations.
