Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to interpret basic topics of Czech and European ethnomusicology.
Syllabus
  • history of etnomusicological research in Czech lands, the collecting and collectors of folk songs, institutions and editorial work, methods and techniques used in field research, audio and audiovisual documentation, cataloguing texts and tunes of folk songs, theory of folk songs, instruments used in performing folk music, types of music bands, types and genres of songs, contemporary melodiousness and song repertoire composition, folk song as a source of inspiration, popularization, second existence of folk song, folklorism
