Course objectives
The seminar is aimed to provide a deeper introduction into Sanskrit language through collective reading of the Bhagavadgita. Students, assisted by the teacher, recite, analyse and translate the Bhagavadgita in the devanagari script.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to:
Read smoothly in devanagari script.
Orientate in the Sanskrit text.
Translate easier parts of the Sanskrit texts.
Syllabus
  • Continuous reading of the Sanskrit text of Bhagavadgita. Approximately 10 slokas per one meeting.

Teaching methods
Reading and translation, homeworks.
Assessment methods
Students demonstrate their ability to read and understand Sanskrit text at the colloquium. The use of dictionaries and grammar aids is allowed. The translation delivered at the colloquium makes up 100 % of evaluation in the course.
