Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire necessary skills in working with relevant scholarly literature, carrying out literary research, making of commentaries and notes of the dissertation. It introduces the basics of translation work to the students (theory and praxis of translation).
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to present parts of their dissertation (possibly in a form of comprehensive studies) based on primary sources and together with references to secondary literature. They will master the necessary skills for translating medieval literary (or diplomatic) source material.
Syllabus
  • Bloc teaching:
  • Presentation of doctoral dissertations;
  • problems of reconstructing medieval texts and making the necessary apparatus;
  • attempts at translating selected literary sources (editerd or commented).
Literature
  • Literatura: dle zvolených témat doktorských disertací.
  • Literature is assigned based on the topics of the dissertation.
Teaching methods
Presentation of doctoral projects (with special focus on editorial or translation outcomes), seminar discussion.
Assessment methods
Regular and active class participation; presentation of the dissertation.
