Course objectives
Within the course, students will get acquainted with the position of lecturer and participant of the prevention program in an experiential form. The aim is to acquaint students with the basic principles of primary prevention of risky behavior in primary schools with a focus on the work of a school psychologist. Students will learn about various forms of work with a group of children, with elements of experiential pedagogy and their use in primary schools in the Czech Republic. Part of the course is a four-hour internship with passive participation in a preventive program in practice.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to: a) describe the specifics of primary prevention; b) to orientate oneself in various possibilities of providing primary prevention in Czech primary schools; c) apply the acquired knowledge in the work with a group of childern; d) imagine various ways of providing primary prevention in primary schools.
Syllabus
  • 1. Concept of primary prevention 2. Introduction to the creation of primary prevention programs - elements of experiential pedagogy, developmental psychology in the context of creation of the program 3. implementation of a program within a seminar (on a selected topic, in pairs)
Teaching methods
theoretical preparation, observationa of one program at the elementary school (intership), realization of the preventive program in pairs within the seminar
Assessment methods
colloquium, 80% attendance, 1 listening program, realization of 1 program within the seminar
