Course objectives
dr. Kudrnáč: The seminar is outlined as a complementation of a lecture on 19th century Czech literature. The sessions are devoted to authors and problems of Czech literature in a comparative perspective, in relation to Czech literature of different periods as well as in relation to other literatures.
dr. Řepa: The seminar will attempt at such a reading of the 19th Century texts that would give life to such works that a contemporary reader does not find worth reading. This task is to be achieved by scrutinizing the social and aesthetic codes of the time the texts were produced.
mgr. Urválková: The aim of the seminar is to stimulate the student to the reading of chosen works and to independent thinking about them on the basis of their knowledge in literary history and theory. The topics are chosen so as to reflect the changes of the genre of Czech historical prose (not exclusively) in nineteenth century literature in the context of European literary evolution.
